(dockside festival / cruise escape / haunted one piece)

I’m on a cruise ship and step off into a large city. There’s a festival being set up by the docks. One of the acts uses fire tricks. Two men setting it up talk about it. There had been a large terrorist explosion earlier in the center of the city, so they thought the act would be banned, but instead the city wants it as a distraction, just redirected elsewhere.

I go over to move the fuses. Something goes wrong and there’s some kind of attack, or the trick goes off too early. All the cruise passengers quickly return to the ship. We had gotten off without specific paperwork and don’t want to get stuck in the city and not be allowed to leave.

The cruise ship circles around the water and heads toward Dubai.

There’s a new or changed version of One Piece. Monkey D. Luffy, Nami, Nico Robin, and Sanji are there. In the first boat, Brook appears briefly. Luffy invites him to join jokingly, but Brook is searching for the pirates who killed his crew and says he’ll join later.

Sanji initially only falls for Nami. I think this is to prevent early changes to the story, but soon after he also starts liking Robin.

The ship becomes haunted. Luffy sends everyone to their rooms and confronts the ghosts. There are three pirate ghosts escorting two child ghosts. One of the children needed a glass of water, so they stopped.

Most people get scared and attack, but the ghosts don’t harm anyone unless they need to protect the children. Luffy stays calm. Nami comes in and turns on the lights, and Sanji gives the ghosts food. Everyone understands the situation.

One pirate ghost stays behind and haunts Luffy’s right arm. It takes a lot of energy, but it significantly increases his power. The ghost looks somewhat unintelligent, with a large body, like a homunculus.

They land on an island so Luffy can practice using the new power. Sanji fights him because Zoro isn’t there. Luffy is initially worried about hurting Sanji, but Sanji deflects all of his punches into the ground before they can land. There’s also a sense that Sanji might be a twin.

(watching tv / romantic drama play / theater intermission)

I’m watching a play on TV in a small, bright, carpeted bedroom, maybe Childhood Friend E’s room, with Sister and Sister’s Husband. Sister recognizes kanji characters on the screen and tells Sister’s Husband it says the Osaka Opera House. I’m confused because that isn’t what was written, but I don’t know the actual translation, so I don’t say anything.

I see a meeting between two rich people in an arranged marriage. They don’t hate each other, but they aren’t in love either. The meeting takes place in a building next to a bridge on a river. They sit in a basic wooden room with a rectangular table. Through another door, away from the river, we pass into a roofed area, maybe a parking garage, though that doesn’t fit the time setting.

Under the awning of the building, two lovers meet: a rich merchant’s daughter and her peasant lover. They are in love, but it isn’t approved, and they have to hide from everyone.

I assume at this point that the story is about the difference between living with social approval but no love, and living with love without social approval. Hannibal is somehow involved, possibly one of the people in the couples.

Backing up from the play, I’m in a theater. I’m sitting with Mom and Dad, and I get up and move further back. The lights come on for intermission, and I find myself sitting right in front of Idris Elba. He’s recognized, but he’s just out with his family and small baby. I defend him, saying celebrities should be allowed to go out and be regular people with their families. They let me hold the baby’s basket. She’s very cute. I stroke her face, and she grabs my finger.

(department store loop / dessert outing / purchase hesitation)

I’m at a 49-store department store, repeatedly passing around the bus stop out front.

One of the floors is dedicated to restaurants, mostly very fancy places, all offering lunch and dessert sets.

After a lecture one day, I go there with College Roommate S and we try cakes at one of the Italian places.

    At night, I return with Ex-boyfriend T.

On the first floor, there’s a general store selling soft, fuzzy loft shawls. He tries on a blue one and hints that I should buy it for him for Christmas. I agree, but I don’t want to buy it in front of him.

I go upstairs to look around the restaurant floor again, then come back down and usher him outside so I can go to the register alone.

I buy a few other things as well, but when I’m checking out and trying to get my rewards cards ready, I realize I never put the shawl on the counter. I have to ask them to redo the receipt.
